Day 16: I and the Father are One

Day 16: I and the Father are One

John 10:27-30, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
I have always loved the visual of this passage. That when we turn to Christ, we are firmly in his hand. Even more, by being in Jesus we are also in the Father’s hand, and for sure no one can take us away from God the Father. All this to say, WE ARE IN GOOD HANDS. Not through an All State Insurance Company, but through the unbreakable grip of the Son and Father.
We need to focus on this truth. This has certainly been a year of trial, struggle and distress. For many their sense of security has been shaken. We can’t trust our health, the medical systems have been over-taxed, the economy has been shaken, jobs have been lost, and a hostility for our fellow man has been rampant. If we are trusting in the things of this world, we are on shaky ground. But our faith is in the resurrected Christ, who places us into the grip of the Father. Take time to pray and praise God for this security. Also ask him to reveal names of people in your life who are in distress, living in fear and have no hope. Ask God to show himself to them. Seek an opportunity to share this passage and the hope of Christ with them.
