Day 19: You will be my Witnesses

Day 19: You will be my Witnesses

Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Whenever I read this verse, I always think of the Spiderman quote: “With great power, comes great responsibility”. We have this amazing, powerful gift of the Holy Spirit and we have a huge responsibility to be witnesses for Christ. It is my daily prayer that all people I come across will see Jesus working in me. When I am not being a good witness, the Holy Spirit lets me know! I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. We all need to listen to our Wonderful Counselor as we live our daily lives.

I take this responsibility very seriously because of who I come across most often in my daily life – middle and high school age kids. To be good examples to the youth is a heavy burden; one that I carry along with our leadership team of Eric, Nicole, Lynette and Heather. Kids are so impressionable; they are always watching and being influenced by every interaction they encounter. We need your prayers to help us be the absolute best “ambassadors for Christ” as we lead the youth week in and week out.

Our kids desperately need your prayers. I see firsthand the battle these kids face daily between choosing Christ’s ways or the world’s ways.

Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Paul makes it clear that there is spiritual warfare going on in our daily lives. A battle we will lose on our own but win only with prayer. Our youth are on the front lines in this battle. THEY NEED OUR PRAYERS!! THEY NEED US TO FIGHT FOR THEM THROUGH PRAYER!! (Is my sense of urgency coming through?)

Please pray for all of us to listen to the Holy Spirit and be great witnesses for Him. Pray for myself, Eric, Nicole, Lynette, and Heather as we work with the youth. And pray for our youth that they may stand firm against the Devil’s schemes.

Thank you!
