Rest in Grace

Application Questions

God is gracious, so we do not have to prove ourselves.

  1. Look back over the past week and share any results from applying “God is good, so I don’t have to look elsewhere for my satisfaction”.
  2. What stood out to you from today’s message?
  3. Share ways that you find yourself trying to prove yourself to God and others, and the emotions and feelings you experience as a result.
  4. Read Galatians 3:16-20.  How does this passage help us apply today’s point; God is gracious, so we do not have to prove ourselves?
  5. What is God leading you to apply to your life this week?

Going Deeper

  1. Take some time in prayer to identify why you may be trying to prove yourself.  What do you think is behind those thoughts and actions?

  2. Reread Luke 15:11-32 to guide your answers to the 4 questions below.  Apply the answers to your specific attempts to prove ourselves to God and others:
  • Who is God
  • What has He done in Christ
  • Who am I
  • How do I live
  1. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.  How does this passage help us when we start to believe we are failures and God is getting weary of us?

  2. Memorize the 4 Gospel Statements
  • God is great, so I don’t need to be in control
  • God is glorious, so I don’t have to fear others
  • God is good, so I don’t have to look elsewhere for my satisfaction
  • God is gracious, so I do not have to prove myself
